L'oreal Excellence 6.13 (Golden Brown) Review
7:51 PM
For the past nineteen years of my existence, I have never gone to the salon to get my hair colored. All the color transformations done on my hair are achieved by drugstore hair-dyes. I've tried hair dye shampoos and the typical hair colorants in a box. However, hair bleaching must be done by a professional. I bleached my hair once and the damage was so severe that no hair treatment was able to gain back the slightest amount of softness and natural texture my hair used to have.
Anyways, for today's post, I will be reviewing a hair colorant from L'oreal, specifically its L'oreal Excellence in the shade 6.13 (Golden brown).
This is what the packaging looks like:
1. protective pre-color serum
2. cream colorant
3. creme developer
4. protective conditioner
5. comb-like tip/applicator
6. gloves
7. manual
Safety & Precautions:
- this product is not intended to be used by persons below the age of 16
- temporary ( black henna ) tattoos may increase your risk of allergy
- DO NOT color your hair if :
:: you have a rash on face or sensitive, irritated, and damaged scalp.
:: you have ever experienced any reaction after coloring your hair.
:: you have experienced a reaction to a temporary "black henna" tattoo in the past.
- YOU MUST DO A SKIN ALLERGY TEST WITHOUT FAIL 48 HOURS BEFORE EACH USE OF THIS PRODUCT.
The product contains:
- hydrogen peroxide
- phenylenediamines
- resorcinol
- ammonia
- Wear the gloves supplied in the box.
- Avoid contact of the product with eyes. Do not use to dye eyelashes or eyebrows.
- Rinse eyes immediately and thoroughly if product comes into contact with them.
- Rinse hair well after application.
- Wait at least 2 weeks after using a relaxer, perm or a straightening process on the hair.
- Do not use if your hair has been colored with henna or with a progressive hair colorant.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Once you have set up your work place and prepared all the materials, the hair coloring process may begin!
- Apply the protective serum generously all over the hair. This serum should stay on until the end of the whole process, as it makes the hair dye cause less damage to the hair.
- Grab the tube of creme colorant and put in the content to the creme developer bottle. Once the tube is empty, put back the cap on the bottle and shake vigorously.
- Optional: In this step, you may change the cap into the comb-like cap provided or you make stick to the current one. But in this step, I chose to use the comb-like applicator to finely dye my roots.
- After the hair is completely covered with the product, leave it on for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the product off until the water runs clear.
- Apply the provided protective conditioner and leave on for 2 minutes.
The results:

What I like about this product:
- It's affordable! I got it for 399.00php at Watsons.
- The conditioner that comes with this dye is UHHH-MAAA-ZIIIING. AMAZING. It made my hair soft and smell good.
- The product didn't dry out my hair. Yes, my hair still has the same texture to before it was colored.
- The color is vibrant, considering that I have black roots. Well it really depends on the initial color of the hair and the chosen shade.
- The gloves (yes wtf why do I care about the gloves). You know the regular gloves right? The clear, thin, and slippery gloves. But the gloves that came with this package is not slippery and a bit thicker. (It doesn't really make a huge difference, but I liked the gloves haha).
What I don't like about this product:
- It kinda ( JUST KINDA ) stings on my scalp, just the top-mid partt, but I didn't mind since it was only subtle.
Overall, this product for me is 4.5 / 5. Will I repurchase this product? YES.
